The Mighty Vibe is like the iPod evolved-a Bluetooth-enabled, portable music player that lets you take your online tunes offline. Who would have thought that, after years making sure we're never disconnected, we'd pine for the days of single-purpose tech, but here we are. If you're looking to minimize distractions and the gear you carry with you on the go, and you have a Spotify Premium account, there's little reason not to grab one. Especially if you're going out for a long run (Mighty Vibe is water and drop resistant), it could mean the difference between training frustration and workout zen. But when what you get is five hours of uninterrupted music on the go, without interruptions from calls or notifications, the price doesn't seem all that bad. But these things are fleeting and don't detract from the delightfully disconnected experience.Īt around $80 ( Amazon usually has it for less), it's a leap of faith. It plays all my favourite tunes and is easy to use. And if you need to do any data management on the go, you'll need your phone and a Wi-Fi network. The mighty is a great way to unwind, before bed, and listen to music without having to scroll on a screen. If you have lots of playlists, it can get a little tedious switching between them (especially since the robotic voice that announces each one is cringe-inducing). Selecting an exact song can take a bit of work, since you have to click through your playlist to find it. The Mighty isn’t hugely graceful or stylish, but its blue font buttons give it at least a deliberate look, and it’s radically smaller than a phone. The limited interface does have the occasional drawback, however. This tiny rubberized square has navigation buttons on its face, a clip on the back, a headphone jack on the top, and no screen. It's a simple thing to find the buttons to raise or lower the volume, play or pause your music, or skip tracks. It's Mighty's second-gen portable Spotify Premium player. ![]() That simplicity makes it a joy to use, especially when working out. The app isnt that hard to use and it explains everything fine, but ultimately you just need your phone way to much to make this product useful.
